![]() Table Tennis is the largest participation sport in the world per the Olympic.org web site!
Sooner State Summer Games tournament The event took place on June 27th, 2009. For results, click here For the Official Sooner Stage Games page, click here. Beginner Lessons: The
OKCTT Club is interested in
providing lessons for youths and beginners. These are
intended as
an opportunity to learn the basics, get some table time, and get to
meet other players. Cost: Initially $5.00 per lesson - primarily to pay for location expenses. We don’t have all the details worked out, but plan to start by offering 1 hour to hour and a half group lessons. As players progress, we hope to add more advanced group lessons as well. Also, individual lessons can be arranged at additional cost. We will be able to help players find an appropriate coach after working with them. Our primary target group is beginners, relatively new players, and youths. Ladies are very much welcome. We will be teaching the basic grip, forehand and backhand strokes, footwork, positioning, spin, serves, and serve returns. One, and possibly two Newgy Robots plus several experienced players will be available to observe, demonstrate, and devise drills or games to illustrate and improve strokes. These lessons are intended to be fun! We will make every effort to teach in a low-key and low-stress way. We’ll be working out the kinks for a while, so hope for patience and plenty of input from students. An assortment of Table Tennis equipment will be available for use free of charge. Beginner-suitable equipment will also be available for purchase. Equipment purchasing advice will be available, but we recommend using basic equipment until the fundamentals have been developed. WARNING We strongly encourage new players to come to lessons or visit us at the club before buying any equipment. The pre-made TT paddles in sporting goods stores are nearly useless - especially considering the price. Please contact Britt or David if you have any questions. Britt can be reached by E-Mail at bsalter5@gmail.com or at (405)306-7227. David can be reached at (405) 410-5888. |
