 Table Tennis is the largest participation sport in the world per the Olympic.org web site! Group Lessons! We kicked off our first Group Lesson on Saturday, July 24. We were lucky to get very quick-learning and attentive students. I think I learned as much as they did! I was pleased to get John Noori and Dr. Phil Wright to help me out with a couple drills and demos – thanks guys!!! We’ll be doing it again on the 31st if we get enough interest. We’ll be starting at 1:00pm and running until about 2:30pm. The cost will be $10 (plus normal entry fee). If he is in town, Winfred will be in charge of coaching – if he is away, you’ll be stuck with Britt. Depending on the number and relative skill level of the class, we’ll get some additional assistant coaches to help out. This Lesson is primarily aimed at new, or relatively inexperienced players and those still working on the basics. Better or more experienced players who want to work on some of the basics are very welcome. Please sign up for the Group Lesson at the club. If this isn’t practical, call or send Britt an E-mail. Hutcinson 2010 Summer Open Guy Hendrickson and the Hutch folks are hosting a tournament on August 7, 2010. They will have a Seeded Challenge RR, their famous Metzger 3 x 3 RR, and a U3600 Doubles event. They always put on an excellent tournament, and there can't be any nicer folk anywhere... The leagues are primarily aimed at new or relatively new players. This initial League is intended to be strictly a “Fun League”. Any equipment is acceptable. No long-term commitments are required. Show up when you can play, and skip any sessions where you want. Winfred is outstanding at teaching the fundamentals of grip, stance, strokes, and footwork.
